Experiencing a
heartwarming Colombia
Successful first leg
Our first leg from St. Lucia to Santa Marta has been a success, albeit with its own challenges. We arrived in windy conditions, with gusts reaching 40 knots, a fitting end to our journey. A highlight was having our first guest, Paul, aboard, who caught the biggest tuna during our voyage. As we approached the harbor, we were greeted by playful dolphins swimming alongside us—a perfect welcome to Santa Marta!
Touring Santa Marta
Our explorations continued as we joined more than half of the WARC participants on a bus tour around Santa Marta. We visited two fascinating museums with an amazing tour guide, José, who made the history come alive. We learned about Simón Bolívar, iguanas, mangoes, and panela, deepening our appreciation for this vibrant region. The evening was filled with lively nightlife as we enjoyed a fantastic dinner with our colleagues from the ARC and S/Y Next Step. Meanwhile, we’re doing our best to stay grounded amidst the strong winds that Santa Marta is known for!
Visiting a local school
We had the privilege of visiting a local school in the suburbs of Santa Marta. It was a heartwarming experience as we spent time with the children, creating dreamcatchers and painting a mural on the wall—leaving a little piece of ourselves behind for them to remember our visit.
