Our journey began atop the dramatic cliffs of Mykines, with our guide Hans leading the way. We came in search of puffins, but the Faroese sea offered so much more than we expected. Bumpy waves, heart-pounding cliffs, and long hikes kept us on our toes, while Hans shared insights into this unique environment: the islands’ hardy vegetation, the bounty of the sea as a primary food source, and even NASA’s interest in the Faroes for their Mars-like landscapes.
