Two months touring The Last Frontier: Alaska

Labeled ‘The Last Frontier’, Alaska isn’t the first to come to mind when you ask people about the 50 United States. All the more reason for our Deo Juvante crew to set course to the home of 100 volcanoes and 3 million lakes. We spent about two months touring the state’s best-known towns as well as some undiscovered gems.

Clement Verstraete looks back on our trip
“Upon our arrival in Addak, we were met with the most interesting town. Having been abandoned for a couple of years, only 26 people live there so our presence felt extra special. In stark contrast, the next part of our journey brought us to Dutch Harbor and Sand Point, where we did a beautiful hike and got acquainted with salmon fishermen. We further discovered the stunning landscape by kayak, spotting bears from afar.
Stopping by Kodiak, we headed to Kenai Peninsula and Prince William Sound to discover some incredible glaciers. The diehards among our crew dared to go ice swimming, while most of us simply enjoyed the stunning surroundings. Our last port in Alaska, Ketchikan, was the cherry on top with sightings of more bears, whales, otters and birds.”
